DRAWING & STENCIL
Drawing comes before the stencil, and the stencil before anything else.
Position is measured against the fold of the chest and the line of the shoulders. Where there is an unaffected side, that side is the reference — diameter, height and the small irregularities that make a shape look like yours rather than a printed circle. Where there is no opposite side to work from, a photograph you are comfortable sharing, or a shape designed with you from scratch, takes its place.
The drawing is transferred as a stencil and then looked at standing, seated and in a mirror, because a design that sits level on a couch may not sit level upright. Nothing is tattooed until you have seen it in position and agreed on it.
