BEFORE YOU DECIDE

Suitability, limitations and risks

PIGMENT ON SKIN · NOT SURGERY · RESULTS VARY

3D nipple and areola tattooing is cosmetic and restorative pigment application. It can add colour, definition and the appearance of depth. It does not change breast anatomy or replace medical care. This page sets out plainly what you can reasonably expect, so you can make your decision with clear information.

01 · SCOPE OF THE WORK

What tattooing can and can't do

Light and shadow on the surface, never a change in structure.

WHAT IT CAN DO

Add natural-looking colour to skin where the areola has been lost, faded or changed after breast surgery.

Suggest depth on flat skin. Realistic shading and soft highlights can give the appearance of a nipple without any physical shape.

Improve visual symmetry between the two sides through careful colour matching and placement.

Soften how some scars read through scar camouflage, where suitable.

WHAT IT CAN’T DO

Create physical projection. A 3D nipple tattoo is a visual effect only. It is not surgical nipple reconstruction.

Remove scars. Pigment can change how a scar looks, but the scar itself stays.

Replace medical care. We don’t offer surgical breast reconstruction, implants, oncology treatment or medical diagnosis.

Promise a set outcome. Every client’s skin and healing are different, so no result can be guaranteed.

02 · READING THE SKIN

What shapes suitability and results

Skin that has been through surgery takes pigment differently from untreated skin. At your personalised consultation, we look at each of these factors before recommending any treatment.

01Skin condition. Texture, thickness and sensitivity affect how evenly pigment settles.

02Surgical history. The type of surgery, and how long ago it was, can influence timing and approach.

03Scarring. Scar tissue can hold pigment unevenly, and some scars may not be suitable for tattooing at all.

04Pigmentation. Your natural skin tone guides colour matching. Tones are built in layers, not chosen as one swatch.

05Individual healing. Pigment retention varies from person to person, so the healed result can differ from how it looks on the day.

03 · CARE BEYOND THE STUDIO

Medical clearance, colour change and risks

Medical clearance

Depending on your surgical or treatment history, we may ask for clearance from your surgeon or doctor before we begin. Your healthcare team is the right source of advice on whether your skin has healed enough and whether tattooing suits your medical situation. We are tattoo artists, not medical practitioners, and our work is not a substitute for medical advice.

Colour over time

Cosmetic tattoo pigment usually softens and may shift in tone over time. Sun exposure, skin changes and individual healing all play a part. Further sessions may be needed to rebuild colour or refine shading, either after the first treatment has healed or in later years.

General risks

As with any tattooing, there are general risks. These can include discomfort during treatment, temporary redness or swelling, infection, a reaction to pigment, uneven pigment retention, and colour healing differently from what was planned. Professional hygiene and clear aftercare instructions reduce these risks but cannot remove them completely. We’ll talk through them with you before any treatment, and we encourage you to raise any concerns with a qualified healthcare professional too.

No two healed results are the same, and we would rather tell you that at the start.
